I bought an HD ready TV 3 years ago, what kind of box do I need to view HDTV when the stations change over to HD?

  1. It is all depend on the TV and the cable/satellite company.

    If the TV have an ATSC tuner (a short form of digital tuner), you will have no problem.

    But if it is HD ready without the ATSC tuner, a HD cable/satellite box with component or HDMI hook up will do just fine for you.

    I believe most of the TV manufactured in those years still up to 1080i, so blue ray and bunch of other stuff can not be run on the TV under 1080p setting, unless you lower down the screen resolution.

  2. if you are getting your signal through cable or satellite, you will be fine.  Only need the converter box if getting signal from an antenna and with an HD ready TV, don't know...probably depends on what the manufacturer's definition of ready was....

  3. When a television say HD ready it means the television doesn't have a built in HD-Tuner.  In your case, your television is still required to get a converter box or HD receiver if you don't get your channels through cable or satellite services.
