I have an HD recieve but I can only find certain HD channels, help please!?

I can find ESPN and the other channels 70-85 of HD but where are the other ones such as TLC, Mtv, Vh1 and such.. thanks.. (the literally channel number)

Most of the HD channels are simultaneously broadcast with the regular channels. What is your package, by the way? Because the number of HD channels that you will be receiving will depend upon the package that you have. The problem that you are experiencing might be caused by any of the following:

*If you are subscribed to the expired HD Access/HD package, you'll only be able to get channels 70-85. If you think this is the reason, you can call Customer Service at 1-800-3473288 or 1-800-5315000 to assign your HD package to the correct tier at no extra charge.

*If you're getting MTV, VH1, and all the others in standard definition, you should also be getting them in HD provided that you have the current HD package. And if these channels are part of your package, you also need to call Customer Service for troubleshooting.

If you have the H20, H21, HR20 or HR21 model receiver and a 5 LNB dish, you should receive all the HD channels.  All other models will only get the channels in the 70s.  Be sure you arent in a favorite channels list (press info, in upper right corner it will say "Fav:..." be sure it says "All Channels").  If its on all channels, check your satellite dish.  It should look like the dish here: http://www.solidsignal.com/satellite/  Look at the 5 LNB and 5 LNB slimline dishes.  You need one of those 2 to get all the other HD channels.  If you do have the right dish outside, check the settings inside the receiver.  Press menu, select settings, select setup, select info and test.  Press the channel down arrow (where it says chan) until it says "Dish type.."  Yours should say 5 LNB.  If it says 3 LNB, it needs to be changed.  To change it, press the left arrow, select sat & ant, select repeat satellite setup, press the dash button 3 times.  Go through the screens and select the options that apply to you for your resolutions and aspect ratio, when it asks for the dish you have, select 5 LNB Multisat.  Just keep selecting the options that apply to you and select on continue and done until it says "Confirming satellite dish setup".  It takes a minute to complete.  When its done select on continue, then wait for the % to get to 100.  select continue, select done, then press exit.  To make sure its setup right look in the guide for channel 362 HD (it says HD next to the ch # when its the HD version).  If you get your picture, your set.  If you dont get a picture or if you need help, call Directv.
