  5. bad battery. It's common. If it's within a year of purchase the company may take it back. You'd have to check.  Most mfgs only warranty batteries for 1 year.

    Will the laptop work with the battery removed and only using the ac adapter?  If not it could be a bad adapter or plug on the motherbaord.
