I have an IR emitter and detector and a strobe light, is their any way I

could turn this into motion activated light???? Help is appreciated!

  1. You can, Radio Shack used to sell small books with circuits for this and there are circuit diagrams on the net as well, you basically set it up with the IR emitter pointed at the detector and when something passes through the IR beam it would trigger the light. Cost about 10 to 15 bucks for the parts. You can get more distance from the emitter by

    strobing it and using optics, by stobing the emitter you can overvolt it and increase its output, use caution, they burn out easily.


  2. You probably have the wrong kind of IR detector. You need a passive IR detector, operating on 30microns or so wavelength. That is quite different from the kind that operates together with an IR emitter.
