  1. They're both very affectionate, but mollucans are waaaayyyyyy louder/noisier.  Like.. decibels that rank up there with 747s taking off loud.

  2. big parrots are very one person oriented. they may not get along at all because they both want to be the #1 bird. keep them separate for a while. don't be surprised if your current bird starts biting you when you get the new one.

but to answer your question, the umbrella's are the more docile

  3. er

  4. Attitudes are very similar in both birds.  The mollucan has a very high pitched whistle that can be very annoying.  They can both be noisy.  They are both extremely cuddlely and affectionate, and both need to have more one on one time with you than other birds.  They can be bad feather pickers just as the the Umbrella can.  I work with and handle both of these birds on a daily basis, and they are 2 of my favorite birds.  I also own an Umbrella.  Caging them together is not a good idea.  Maybe in a few years down the road, but I have seen horrible things go on between cockatoos.  Even when they are the same species.  I witnessed an umbrella tear the head right off of greater sulfer crested.  It was awful.  They seemed to be getting along so well, they were cage mates for about 6 months when this happened.  Before that they had been in cages that were next to each other for 3 years.  They were birds that had not been paired up with mates, so we finally put them in the same cage just so they would have company.  It was great at first.  Cockatoos can be really barbarian. I have seen other bad things happen between mated pairs, usually because the male was ready to mate, but the female was not.  They can inflict serious injury to each other.  But as long as you have cages for each bird, you should be just fine. 5. Much depends on how this M2 was treated and if, or not was trained well.

Male M2's can be agressive like all male birds when hormonal, included Umbrella Males.

    Moluccan's are different than U2's..normally.

Suggest you ask alot of question's of the M2 owner before bringing this bird into your home with your U2.

Why is this person giving you this bird. Is this bird healthy? Been vet checked with blood work done? Is this bird a biter or screamer?

Does this bird perfer males or females - people?

Both Cockatoo need to have large, roomy cages and should have bird stands to spend time out and on daily and of course all need lot's of safe and fun toys to play with and distroy.

Suggest you go to this site, type in Moluccan Cockatoo, or Cockatoo

when you are on the site and read and learn.

I have owned both, still have two U2's now. M2 was sold to me full of E Coli and she died. She was a very nice and sweet female, very pink too.
