I applied for the Bank of America student credit card (I'm 18) and I got info in the mail that I wasn't approved because I previously filed bankruptcy or have an account filed with bankruptcy. I have never declared bankruptcy since I just turned 18 last week. What can I do? I think i'm a victim of identity theft.

  1. you can call these credit agencies, and tell them your story, I would also write each agencies listed below a letter and explain who you are and your age, and they will tag your social number in system as a stolen identity issue.   they will send you your credit report for free, then you can see what charges are showing on your credit....call everyone on your credit report that you know is not yours, and tell them what happen, and then you need to make a police report to the fact someone charge against your name, ssn, and let someone investigate.

    GOOD LUCK.

  2. Since you got denied, you are entitled to your credit report.   Check the letter they sent you (or will send) and look your report over.
