I have an acer 4050

I have an acer 4050 Travelmate, it has just suddenly stopped charging the battery. The machine works with the battery out and on 240v. If you put the battery in and on 240v it wont turn on. The battery has been working fine and has had good life between charges. Can anyone help, could it be setings or is it battery
