I only have one output on the back of my tv, and I am looking to add my converter box to it. I also have satellite coming in the antennae to the tv. So, my question is, I need to be able to watch my local channels on dtv, and still be to watch satellite on channel 4. When I connect the converter box, I can get the local channels through the box, but no satellite. What else would I need to purchase to be able to make this happen? I tried a splitter before. Thanks for your help.

  1. You need an A/B selector switch.  It costs about $5-10 at most stores and allows you to switch between two video sources as needed.  For example, you could connect your satellite box to the "A" port on the switch, the "B" port to an antenna (for local channels), and then connect a coaxial cable from the output of the switch to the input on your TV.  The device does NOT allow you to view both sources at the same time; you would use the switch on the A/B unit to switch between the satellite box and the antenna.  I hope this helps you.
