  1. Probably not.

It likely wont even do anything until your local station starts to broadcast in DTV.

Basicly think of it this way.

Analog is a Cassette or VHS, and Digital is like a CD or DVD. One is higher quality, and has more options, channels, and is basically just newer and better.

If your out of range, you'll lose quality, just like if the tape on a Cassette or VHS is wrinkled, or a CD/DVD is scratched.

  2. Digital signals either work or they don't.  If the converter box or Digital TV can get a good enough signal to lock and decode, you will get a perfect picture every time.  If the signal is marginal, you will get either freezes or it will appear as if nothing is there.

So, you must have a good quality, properly installed TV antenna for this to work.  Since the old style analog Over The Air signals are going away next February, now would be a good time to work out the kinks.  If you wish to use an antenna after February 17, 2009, you should get a converter box or a newer Digital TV and start using it now.

Visit http://www.antennaweb.org and put in your ZIP code for a list of stations in your area, suggestions on antennas for your unique situation and where to aim them.

I hope this helps.  Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.
