I don't have the time to apply for a new 'green card' that Ireland has just introduced but I really want to work there. If I have a British Ancestry Visa can i work in Ireland?

  1. Ireland is not part of the UK so no, you can't work here.

  2. I don't think so. I'm Irish and work in the UK, and anybody in the EU can work in Ireland, but if you're American, you definitely need a visa to work/earn money in Ireland. Check the Irish immigration website for more details: http://www.justice.ie/80256E01003A21A5/v...

I'm sure if you sent them an email, they would get back to you within a few days

  3. No.  Ancestry visas do not permit you to work.

Attached is a decent website which explains depending which country you are from, what visa(s) you will need
