I have an audi A4 2002 & keep having a damp smell from air conditioning!!!?

When the car is started after having the air con on the air coming into the car smells damp. I susspect the condensation drain off the condensor is blocked but where is that or is there something else wrong???

  1. Try switching the cabin air filter, It might be wet due to its placement. Its near the passenger side windshield. There are a couple tumb screws your have to take out and then everything comes out pretty easy.

    My air was starting to have that mold smell, switched my filter and everything smelled like new.


  2. sounds like the pollen filter needs changing they often get overlooked when the car gets its service

  3. Filter needs changing (and probably, the system needs re-gassing).  The filter traps all sorts of stuff, and eventually, you get a dank, unpleasant smell from it.

    Look in yellow pages for a firm that does an aircon service. (Avoid Kwikfit and similar places - expensive).
