Alright so I know it's very hard to describe songs to sing for someone like me, but here's a little bit of my singing past. I have been in choir for going on my sixth year. My range is quite wide, I can hit low C and high E above middle. My style is more broadway, but I can sing slow songs as well. I usually sing a song from musical for my auditions, but I really need to *wow* them this year, as I am a freshman going in to an Annie audition. I want to find a near to perfect song, and I need suggestions. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. My comfort range is usually Alto, although I'd prefer a song that showcases one of three ranges quite well.

Thank you for your time and effort in to finding songs beforehand.

  1. "good morning baltimore" from hairspray sounds really impressive when sung well

  2. Try one of these:

    Little Lamb from Gypsy

Worst Pies in London from Sweeney Todd

When You're Good to Mama from Chicago

A Little Brains, A Little Talent from d**n Yankees

There's a Fine, Fine Line from Avenue Q

My New Philosophy from You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown

    Stepsisters' Lament from R&H's Cinderella

What I Did For Love from A Chorus Line

    Hope that helps a little!

  3. Wow, a low C to the E above 3rd space C (so an E5, I'm assuming) is basically in true contralto territory - VERY low for a female. So, stick to alto rep as soprano stuff and even most mezzo stuff will go above that E.

Here's a song that will wow them - since Can't Help Lovin That Man from Show Boat DOWN an octave. In its normal range, it's meant for sopranos, but it you bring it down, it takes on almost a jazzy feel and soounds amazing and is very impressive since it has quite a few low notes.

    Good luck!!
