I have an ear ache and itch and it's getting worse. Do I need to go to the ER right away?

You need to see your regular Dr. The ER is for emergencies.

I don't know about the ER, but you might call the Dr. or find a number to ask a nurse and see what they think. I have had ear infections where my face swells up, and the pain is unbearable, the doc will get you in asap based on pain and symptoms.

Leave the ER to your pain level, how is on the scale from 1-10, 10 being the worst of your life?

So I say, call and tell them what you are feeling, you will get good advice..

No, do not go to the ER.  You'll wait for HOURS with just an earache.

If you're really hurtin' and can't wait until the morning, or your regular doc can't work you in, see if you have 24hr clinic.  They're more expensive than your family physician but they're fast.
