This lady lived there for nearly 8 years and paid him $50.00 a week in a verbal agreement. In Washington, DC how can he have her removed from his property? The area is unfit for habitation.

  1. If all there was is a verbal agreement, he can just tell her to leave.  If she refuses he can call the police and she will be forced to vacate the premises immediately.  Since there is no written contract she really has no legal right to be there unless the house is in her name as well (which I assume it is not).

If your uncle wanted to be considerate, he should give her a month or so to make alternate housing arrangements.

  2. He needs to follow the landlord/tenancy rules for the state.   Even though her habitation was only a verbal agreement, the fact that she has been paying rent is enough to be considered a formal arrangement.  He needs to provide her with the proper amount of written notice of eviction, and she has a legal responsibility to comply.  If she doesn't move out by the date on the eviction, your uncle is then free to solicit the assistance of the sheriff to have her and her belongings removed from the property.

  3. Tell the rat to leave and if she doesn't call up an uncle that isn't elderly and disable and grab her by her neck and toss her raggedy butt out the door and tell her "don't come back"...It's pretty much a no brainer.

  4. Give her a verbal notice, then a written notice if the verbal doesn't go through with a date of mandatory removal then if she doesn't do that... Call the police and have her removed if the house isn't in her name.

  5. He must ask her to leave at his request, otherwise how will she get the hint? :)

If she refuses to leave, this is another situation itself.
