Question:

I have an electric tuner and it keeps telling me to tighten my 1st string until it breaks I cant tune by ear.?

-I'm using an electric guitar

-I don't know the string size (guitar is borrowed)

-Tuner is kinda cheap and isn't very consistent

  1. Sounds like you have the wrong string on the axe.


  2. go down to the music store and get some instructions on this. Or better yet, ask the person you got the guitar from about this problem.

    My brother used ear tuning for many years, but now has everyone using an electronic tuner. Gets the job done much much faster and everyone's "ear" is exactly the same now!!

  4. is it plugged in to tuner? if so loosen the string all the way and try tighten it again while using the tuner. If it doesn't work than I suggest you get a new tuner. the guage string size for the 1st string should .11 inch typ. The 1st string is a E thinnest, 2nd is B, 3rd G, 4th D, 5th A, 6th E which is the thickest string.
