I have a light fixture (110 volt) that doesn't work. When i put a volt meter on the black wire and the ground wire I get 110 volts, but when i put the meter on the black and white wire I only get around 30 volts.I replaced the light switch and the fixture, but still no light.. What else should I check?

Thank you for any help. Victor

  1. Your white wire in the circuit is called the neutral wire. This wire should be at the same potential as the ground, thus you should have 110v from the black to the white just like you measured from the ground to black wire.

In this case your problem exists in the white wire. I would investigate this wire visually and make sure its not broke or arched..

    good luck
