Okay. You know when you buy a dvd player or stereo or something, there's those styrofoam pieces holding the equipment in place.

Well, I was cleaning out my basement, and I was breaking down old boxes to be recycled.

What do I do with the styrofoam??? I know it takes forever for it to break down in a landfill. So where do I take all this styrofoam? It's a good trashbag worth of just styrofoam.

  1. Re-use it. Maybe someone on craigslist has a use for it. Who knows? There might even be an artist out there who carves figurines out of it. So just try it out.

  2. Hi there,

Try this first...The Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers maintains a national listing of recycling locations: http://www.epspackaging.org/info.html.

Or try calling your local Staples or other office supply stores. Some grocery stores recycle their foam trays and egg containers, too.

Time to stop making this stuff!!!

    Good luck.

  3. You can take it styrofoam to a mail center, i.e. UPS, Mailboxes, Etc. they will reuse it.

  4. Do like Don says and use it for insulation. If you take it somewhere you will use more gas to get rid of it than you can possibly offset.

  5. I wouldn't use it for installation or wateva that guy said. EEEEW. POVO. Lol just toss it out the landfill will probably do a better job than all the greenies combinedd.

  6. Hello put it on freecycle Someone may need it for whatever reason:) Good ~ luck

  7. There is a glass blower in my neighborhood who accepts peanuts and other Styrofoam he can reuse.  Maybe there is someone in your neighborhood.  you may need to break up the big pieces.

  8. hi

i dont really have an idea of my own to suggest

but i really suggest u go with don's idea. insulation is a great idea.

and please dont listen to Mikal Man's comments. he is known for being ignorant to nature lovers and environmental people.

he's just really ignorant and dont reply or take his messages seriously.

I have just made an Environmental site of my own if u are interested :

    http://www.freewebs.com/help-rescue-eart...

    hope i helped!x

  9. It is OK to just toss it up into the crawlspace above the ceiling.  It serves as insulation at no extra cost.
