  1. Hi Sujay D

Delete d file mentioned. It's not a system file.

  2. first you should run a full scan on your computer just in case it was a trojan or virus. Then, click start then run, and type sfc /scannow' . This is the system file checker and will remove any corrupted data. Don't forget to update your definitions for the virus scanner. Hope this helps.

  3. Have you ran scans to check for any signs of infections from spyware, marlware to virus and trojans ??

If so, go to Start > Run and type 'sfc /scannow' (without the quotes). This will run the System File Checker that will replace any damaged or corrupted system files. this should repair csrss.exe if it is corrupt. Also make sure you have updated your virus scanners & spyware tools with their latest definitions and run full scans. Are their any other sympthoms on your machines? If you go to your task manager after clearing the error can you csrss.exe in your list of running processes? If you can then I think some malware has infected your machines, either csrss.exe or itself or another file with the same name.

Heres some spyware that yo ucan download in case you dont have them already.

  4. Okay, maybe this will clear-up of what csrss.exe is instead of going straight to the Virus/Malware/Spyware cause.

    From Wikipedia:

Client/Server Runtime Subsystem, or csrss.exe, is a component of the Microsoft Windows NT operating system. It provides the user mode side of the Win32 subsystem and is included in Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista and Server 2008. Because most of the Win32 subsystem operations have been moved to kernel mode drivers, in Windows NT 4 and later CSRSS is mainly responsible for Win32 console windows and threading. It is critical to system operation, therefore terminating this process will result in a Blue Screen of Death (Under normal circumstances, CSRSS cannot be terminated with the tskill command or with Windows Task Manager. However, third party applications can kill the CSRSS service.)

So technically, it prevents your computer from crashing like it has never crashed before. If it says this, try to contact your computer manufacturer or Microsoft and tell them this. Maybe they can help you. I'd like to, but I'm not a computer technician.
