I have an esp guitar with an s.s.h. set up. what pickup would work best on it an EMG 81, 85, or a dimebucker?

  1. What do your ears like? EMGs are more "noiseless" - very exacting, precise pickups. Some people say they sound "push-button". The Dimebucker is more forgiving, but its noise-elimination level is not quite as high as the EMG.

    Best advice I can give you is to look around and see if you can find some guitars in a shop equipped with each one and try them on the same amp with the settings you like. That'll give you a pretty good idea what to expect from each.  


  2. u would want an emg 81 if u are looking to play solos or if u want to play a crunchy softish thing like older songs u would want the dimebucker but not the emg 85 that is meant to be put up at the neck position which is where ur single coil is = bad idea :)
