I was laid off and couldnt find another job(due to my prenancy). I couldnt afford my rent and was evicted.Have been living in a townhouse for about a year now,(all payments on time) only to find out that it is being foreclosed. I am looking for another townhome to rent in Florida, but am worried about my eviction.

  1. Ask your landlord where you live now to give you a letter stating that your payments have been on time and you kept the property in good condition.  That will go a long way with a small landlord.

Unfortunately, the eviction is a real black eye but your explanation may help.

Also get a print out from your utility company showing you have paid on time the last year.

If you can find someone to give you a letter of personal reference, that would be a good idea.

  2. i also had one on my credit your best bet is to try and rent a house because apt complexes in florida are very strict about evictions.

  3. Tell the truth to the prospective landlord, provide proof of ontime payments with current landlord and that would copies of cancelled checks. A letter from your "landlord" could be a letter from your best friend. If someone that has been evicted tells me that they pay cash, they can forget it. Been down that road before.

Also if you can afford it, offer to pay a double deposit or get someone with perfect credit and assests to cosign for you. You need to make the landlord comfortable with the situation of you really want the property.

    Good Luck
