  1. no.

While experienced travellers probably see this question as ridiculous I can see where It comes from.

Having never been to Africa before this summer the one thing that struck me was the amount of ways in which I was informed I might die, however this is basically c*ap, sure it makes sense to be somewhat careful but really don't worry, get your vaccines, get your malaria tablets, don't do anything too stupid and you will be fine.

  2. do it!

when else in your life are you going to have the freedom to just pick up and go to africa?

i haven't been to zambia, but i do live in ghana.

if you are worried about getting sick, just give yourself some rules:

    1. don't sleep with the locals :)

    2. eat only foods that are packaged, can be peeled, or made by someone you trust

    3. sleep under a mosquito net

    4. use mosquito repellent

    5. if you get a cut don't stick in in a sewer, put a band-aid on it with some good ol' neosporin

you can't let worries about what might happen keep you from living your life!

just be careful and when opportunities arise, take them!
