I have an idea for a novel, would this be a good idea?

I want to write a novel based on my life so far and my experiences with drugs and alcohol. The book will detail my normal childhood, decent upbringing, and high level of potential as a priviledged child. I will talk about my first experiences with alcohol as a teenager and my subsequent descent into alcoholism and drug abuse over the next several

years. I will write about my time working on oil rigs after highschool where I became very involved in the seedy, dangerous drug culture of the oil industry. I will talk about my experiences with homlessness, poverty, and drug addiction as a teenager in the Alberta Oil patch. i will also talk about my near death overdose that forced me back to my hometown and my subsequent struggles with coming clean, relapse, and my eventual victory over drugs, alcohol and depression.

That was a bit confusing, but if it's going to tell kid's to stay away from drugs and alchohol, then my opinion is it's a pretty good idea. But, you should probably use a pen name( an anonymous name for an author) and anonymous names for people mentioned in your book, as a lot of people might get the wrong idea and think that your a bad person( you'ld be surprised at how many people judge a book by it's cover!)

I think it's a dam good idea. You might want to look into making it a screen play as well. I think you could take your life story to a whole different level. Dream big girl! I wish you the best.

Sounds like a good story to me. I'd probably read something like that if it was real life story, but I probably wouldn't be interested in something like that if it was fiction.

I think that's a good idea! I also agree that you should look at it as a memoir, make everything true. that way, the people who read it will gain more out of it, rather than if it was a fictional novel. I'm sure that the writing process will help you too! It takes a strong person to get lost, find their way and go back to help others, so good for you!
