I'd like to build a housing development out in the country- on an old farm somewhere, possibly in New England- in which houses are either single or double occupancy, extremely cozy (100, 200, 400, and 800 square feet), widely varied in visual style. There would be no driveways- just golf-cart / bike paths. Cars would be kept in an single large underground garage at the edge of the property. Cottage would be close together, have mirrored windows (for privacy) and everything would be as green as possible. A family of four might own three houses: two 100 square footers for kids, one 800 square foot for common space. No covenants, just neighborness. The question: who likes the idea, who hates it. Best answer will be whoever explains their reasons with the most clarity.

  1. Possibly could work. Together but separate. The children could blast their music without upsetting Mom and Dad. Good in concept I guess.

  2. ugh I bought a 900 sqft. 2 bedroom house 6 years ago and I've come to despise how small it is. One bathroom is h**l with two women in the house, at one point I seriously thought about renting a port-a-potty. I've got jack for closet space, my kitchen is retarded, and I want out. As for your idea... How many parents are going to want their children sleeping in a separate building? I'm 6'2'' if I lay down and stretch my arms out I can nearly touch two walls in a 100sqft room lol. Sounds great though if your building a Rehab or semi-permanent housing for the mentally ill.

  3. 100 sq. ft. house? That's a 10'x10' room. cozy's not the word.
