I have an ignition problem with my boat?

I have a 2004 Chaparral 183ssi with a 4.3L Mercruiser inboard engine that will not start. When I turn the ignition switch to the on position, I should first hear a warning tone and my gauges should

move. None of this happens. my battery does have a full charge and all my other switches at the helm work. Am I missing a fuse or circuit breaker somewhere? Is it possible that the switch is bad? Please help. The lake is calling me!!

  1. On several models of this boat, there is a breaker panel, note the IGN. label.  There is also a breaker on the engine.  Here, a inexpensive test light is invaluable.  It will help you isolate the problem.

  2. Check in and around the engine some-times there's circuit breaker with a big red button on it push hard to reset. Also make sure the battery polarity is correct.

    Good luck.
