I can see how they are getting in but not the nest as it seems to be under the porch. How do I get rid of them ? As well as the normal ants there are the bigger winged ones , I was told that these can give a nasty bite , is this true ?

  1. Use boric acid in powder form in the area they are getting in.  Also, you could use diatamasous earth (ground corral).  The bigger winged ones are probably girls looking to make a colony of their own and be queen. Almost all ants have a "bite" athough it is more like a sting from chemical secretions they are capable of making.

  2. Check out these home remedies...

  3. I like baby powder best. They won't cross the talcum in the baby powder.

  4. Use ant bait. It will kill the whole colony.

  5. try finding the nest and pour vinegar right in it

  6. pour boiling water on them

  7. Use a mix of cinnamon and sugar. The ants will pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.
