My friends and I are having this huge fundraiser. Last year, we donated to cancer. Some of them are still all for that, others want a change. Were going to have a vote, but do you have any ideas what we can do with the money. Write the cause it will help, then any direct charities you have. For example:

Breast Cancer

Thanks for the help.

  1. i don't have links just ideas.how about a local vet center or hospital? an animal shelter?the local food pantry? homeless or womens shelters? i like the idea of keeping the funds in your area where you can see it work.

  2. I always support the March of Dimes and The JDRF, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. They are both worthwile causes.

  3. Do you know that you can donate a cow to a family in Africa?  My biblestudy group and I are saving up for one.  The website/ group that I would donate towards is http://www.heifer.org/   "Give an Udderly Original Gift

What would be the better gift for someone you love this holiday season - another present that gathers dust on a shelf? Or a donation that represents a heifer and training in its care, that brings health and hope to struggling families?

Better still, every gift multiplies, as the animal's first offspring is passed on to another family-then they also agree to pass on an animal, and so on.

A good dairy cow can produce four gallons of milk a day - enough for a family to drink and share with neighbors. Milk protein transforms sick, malnourished children into healthy boys and girls. The sale of surplus milk earns money for school fees, medicine, clothing and home improvements.

And because a healthy cow can produce a calf every year, every gift will be passed on and eventually help an entire community move from poverty to self reliance. Now that's a gift worth giving!

You can donate a cow for $500, or pay partly for one ($50) .  Our group thought this was really cool, because they get milk everyday, new calves every year, and meat afterwards.  It really seems to work out!   You can also donate other animals and things to places through this site.
