Try Avast.

Yesterday, my free anti-virus caught a trojan virus.

To ensure that the virus caught is not a false positive, I upload it to virus total web site to check.

To my surprise, all the big names in Anti-virus industry cannot detect the trojan. The one that detect the trojan are mainly the free version.

I would suggest that you get Avast. It is free for personal use.

Have you tried booting your PC in safe mode? Turn it of turn it back on while its starting up straight away keep fressing F8 and select boot in safe mode then do a scan it should not be bale to remove it.

Kaspersky does an amazing job with their on line scanner - just be patient - it takes a while to download the virus definitions and do the scan.

When downloading these virus cleaners, you have to be careful that you yourself aren't downloading a new virus !

I suggest Norton anti Virus security, they remove all viruses and protect your computer against on-line predators who try to hack into it.  Unfortunately you have to pay an annual fee, and it is best to buy the CD and download it, rather than download it on-line.

I do not know what version Norton you have installed into your computer, but if it is not working the most logical explanation is that  it has expired. or the norton that you've installed is outdated for your computer model.  Either way, you should call the service company which manufactures the software for further information.

Don't use Norton, it really doens't do a good job at all considering you have to pay to use it.

A very good, free anti-virus available to download is AVG 8 Anti-virus:

And for any spyware problems, get SpyBot - Search and Destroy:

And for protecting your personal info and files, use Ad-Aware 2008 Free Edition:

All of them are free, as powerful as paid programs, like Norton and McAfee, and don't use up as many resources.

Just boot into Safe Mode (Press F8 when turning on the computer) and run full scans.
