So AT LAST I finally have an interview for a summer job. Its a really easy job, serving food to folks in an active retirement home (not a nursing home). I need this job, so what are some things I can do? I tend to get nervous and tounge tied and end up talking way more than I need to.

Also, I don't have really any good interview clothes besides what I wore to drop the application off last week..would it be okay to wear the same outfit? I don't really have time or money to get new clothes as the interview is at 2pm.

Help!

  1. First of all relax....  Be clean NUMBER 1!!!

Hair up and tied securely, minimal jewelry and zero to no makeup.  Black pants and a white button down or blue button down shirt is just fine.  Be courteous, respectful and SMILE SMILE SMILE!!  Remind them how well you relate to the clientele they serve and how excited you are at the opportunity to be interviewed and considered.  Ask questions so that you seem really interested and shake hands upon entering and leaving.  When leaving the interview if they have not offered you the position, ask "when can I call you to find out the status of my interview?"  Don't be shy and again smile smile smile

    Best of luck!!!

  2. You dont have to have great clothes,   be sure that they are clean, ironed, and not so modern that they can offend.   No skin showing that does not need to be, in other words no stomachs, no breast, and dont show your underwear,  none of these would be proper attire.   now also ,  make sure your hair is clean and  not in an extreme hair do ,   just a basic and simple  one,   then   CALM  DOWN.

if you get tongue tied,   just count to ten,  and think before you speak,   they will know that your nervous,  and they should try to put you at ease,

Tell them that you are very patient, and you do love to be around people, and to make others smile,  You like to make people happy.

    GOOD LUCK

  3. Try not to focus on what you don't have and focus on what you have : your work record and eagerness to work there . Why you want to work there ; and get them to do some talking , by asking all about the place . As long as you are clean and presentable ; take a deep breath , you will do just fine .

  4. Do not worry about the clothes - no one will notice - good luck with the job!

  5. Dump the glasses and you'll look like a different person.

    Same clothes....It's ok.

Tell them you're training yourself to wear the same uniform you will when you get the job.

  6. as long as the clothes are neat and clean and you are well groomed... have your hair washed etc.. it's ok..  Just be yourself.. they will show you around.. ask what your responsibilities will be.. if you will get a chance to interact with the residents at the retirement home...  ask what a typical day will be like for you doing this job and other than that listen.. and answer their questions.. it won't be hard.. as this is only a summer job... You have to be polite of course if you serve the people and smile.... and it's fine if you go around with coffee or tea to ask if they would like some more.. if everything was ok... ask if they need anything else.. make sure they are comfortable... x*x yes if you have long hair if you work there you will have to tie it into a ponytail or it has to be below shoulder lenght.. but you can wear some make up and you don't have to wear uniform.. as you are not a Personal support worker there... or a nurses aide.. just serving food.. but your hair.. and you can wear the glasses of course if you need them... x*x
