and I need a little bit of advice on attire. It's for a teaching position.

I have a black suit and I am wondering what color to wear underneath it. Should I just go with a neutral color or do like a spunky color (burnt orange) to give it a little bit of flair?

And should I go with close toed shoes?

I really like the classic black closed toed heels.

  2. well whatcha gonna be teachin? art? go for flair! i wore a suit with a yellow jacket and floral skirt to my teaching interview. seems like i wore matching sandles too. but then i live in the south and it was hot out. i got hired  :)

  3. Most people had wonderful answers so I am not going to go all crazy in my answer.

100% go closed toe shoes to play it safe.

I would totally rock the orange. Teaching is about personality and being "out of the box" If my top 2 candidates were pretty much identical in their skills, I would totally pick the one with the colored shirt because you gotta have some personality in this field.

  4. If you need advice on what to wear, then God only knows what your going to do when the going gets tough.

  5. go with neutral color it's better  like white .. black closed toed heels are definitely great and will make you look professional

    hope you get the job

  6. I recently interviewed candidates for a teacher position.  The first thing I notice is always the shoes!  Definitely go with closed-toe, but not too plain either.  Go with a fun color shirt, something memorable.  I worry about orange with a black suit though; will you look like you're ready for halloween?  My biggest issue with attire at an interview is the suit jacket.  Some people have such ill-fitting jackets that it's all I can concentrate on during the interview.  Do a test: put a chair in front of a mirror and sit in it.  Make sure it doesn't bunch up at your shoulders or stomach.  If it does, try unbuttoning it - that usually helps.  You don't want anything to distract the interviewers; they should be able to concentrate on what you're saying, not what you're wearing.

    GOOD LUCK!!

  7. I would wear the black suit with the burnt orangish color top under it with a cute pair of black closed tip heels. Also dont wear big earings and it helps if you have your hair up...hopes this helped ; )

  8. As someone who has interviewed for positions before, the best advice I can give is; the spunky color because you do want a LITTLE flair but not too much.  Some places do not allow opened toed shoes so to be safe go with the closed toe.  Most important, take with you a portfolio showing your accomplishments.  Include your resume, any letters of recommendation, performance reports, high lites of your education and and certificates of accomplishments.  Good Luck

  9. black suit with a bit of color burnt orange fine close toe shoes

  10. Second the "spunk" and also the closed toe shoes.

Always, always shake hands if not before, than after the interview.

(it leaves an "imprint"...I've been studying a little metaphysics!)

    You go!

  11. Wear white underneath, it looks more professional and go with the closed toe heels.

  12. I have to commend you for taking such a cautious approach with your interview dress for tomorrow.  Nice work!  I work in the staffing industry and that is a typical complaint I get from my clients, people don't dress appropriately for a job interview.

I would say that if you are under 40, you could get away with a "spunky" color under your black suit.  I think what counts is that you are wearing a suit.  If your burnt orange shirt doesn't have a collar, I think a nice strand of pearls, even fake, would set it off professionally.  Otherwise, if it does have a collar, you are good to go.

I would for sure wear classic black closed toed heals.  Toes peaking out of dress shoes really turn some people off.

Good luck, and it's always best to be yourself at the interview.  Not who you think they want.

  13. If you like the classic shoes, go with those.  While first impressions are important, your interviewers will be a lot more interested on your philosophy on education and classroom management plans than your appearance.  Remember, every state in our nation needs good teachers.  They will remember your responses more than your outfit.  Good Luck!

  14. Close toe for sure. As far as color it's hard to say. Something that compliments you, maybe wear a color that makes your eyes stand out, that's what I do when I can't decide. :) Good luck!
