...I've been wondering about why and how for a very long time. I can stick my finger under the flame from a candle or a lighter and not even feel it until the skin at the point of peeling off or is charred. I can pour boiling hot water over my feet and it won't be a big deal until maybe ten afterwards, when the blisters have formed.

My family says its got to do something with maybe having fewer pain receptors but I mean, I feel the sensation of pain when my skin is broken other ways like cuts, bruises, bites, etc. Also, I feel the pain caused by burn and the heat but only waaay afterwards.

...Is it just my physiology? Is it normal? Haha, I can't understand it. I'd appreciate any input/personal stories. Please and thanks!

  1. I'm sorry I don't have any "real" input for you, other than... you should be careful not to damage your skin tissues with these experiments you're doing on yourself. Good luck finding some answers!
