  1. the engine is junk.get a new car.

  2. You have a blown head gasket.

  3. Well Jeff let's take things one at a time here.

You said at first the oil light was on, but it didn't seem to be low. It is possible you simply have a bad engine oil pressure sending unit. Especially since you never mentioned that the engine was making any kind of noise which would be consistent with an engine that is out of oil.

You mentioned it has an oil leak but the engine oil is always full. Are you a hundred percent certain it is an engine oil leak? If so, something else comes to mind. Your oil maybe saturated with gasoline which would tell me you have a leaking fuel pump diaphragm that is putting gas into your oil. This can thin out the oil and make it leak and also make it always seem over full. Change the oil and mark the dipstick. See if it gets over full after driving it and if it has a strong smell of gasoline. This does happen.

The thick white smoke--Not always the symptom of a blown head gasket. You never mentioned if the car overheats or runs poorly. Some people forget that if the car is an automatic, a ruptured shift modulator will allow the engine to draw transmission fluid through the vacuum line and burn it. It can cause terrible white smoke. See if your vacuum lines are really mushy and if any of them have automatic transmission fluid in them. If so, change the shift modulator.
