I have an old direct tv box my son who never uses his dont mind if we switch?

even though we live in the same house and both boxes are on the same bill when i switched it says on the tv call service blah blah how do i fix this without calling the company

  1. You do need to call the service dep't to have them "re-activate" the box.  each box is set a signal which is unique to each box and each line in the house.  If you call Directv and just tell them you switched boxes from one room to the other and they will make the adjustment.  It's free and takes a few seconds to do.


  2. Try switching the little cards first to see if it will save the phone call.  I'd be curious to see if that works.
