Question:

I have an old horse who still loves showjumping, but he is slow how can i make up time??? please help!!?

he used to be a hunter and he love jumping so i don't want to stop with him because he is doing it because he loves it not because i make him do it

  1. Well, you could always do hunters instead of jumpers so that you don't have to worry about the time... you'd just do your course as fast as you want to.

    If you're set on show jumping, remember that show jumping isn't always about going as fast as you can... it's more about turning and having a flexible horse who can adjust his stride between jumps and for sharp turns.  To make up time, make sharper turns... instead of going around a jump in a rollback, turn before it.  It makes it harder because your horse doesn't get to see the jump and run up to it, but it's the best way to make up time.
