  1. Agree with previous answer, but you need to subscribe to whatever packages you may want, also. These are generally expensive. Also, there are many satellites to choose from, if you have a motorised system, or a 2/3 LNB system. You can buy some cards on eBay(may be dodgy!), or from satellite shops in the UK.

  2. you need to plug in to the box the correct CAM (PCMCIA card reader)and card for the type of channels you are trying to descramble(ie: VIACCESS, CONAX, IRDETO, MEDIAGUARD, etc.

It might be cheaper to replace it with a technomate since some of these come with inbuilt multi-CAM's saving you in buying separate CAM's.

have a look at www.en.kingofsat.net for the different sats/channels

also if you get a technomate receiver that is already patched, you might be able to receive certain channels for free and others by getting the correct "keys". patching is done using a null modem lead connected to your PC's serial port and getting the correct software for programming your receiver + patch software.

  3. The humax sat receiver was very good for its time but uses a different card encrption standard to the uk, it used to be possible to buy illegal copy viewing cards quite cheaply but thing have changed in the last few years, controls are stricter due to international copyrights and you would have to be a total fool to buy or use one.

  4. Don't know mate,try phoning manufacturer.
