  1. Take your parts to a junk yard

  2. call junk yard...they will pick it up..just sell it to them...you can get 75 to 200 dollars ...

  3. turn the title into the department of motor vehicles as sold for parts and salvage

  4. There are hundreds of charitable organizations that you can donate your old car to.  They will pickup the car at no cost to you, handle all the paperwork for you, and give you a receipt that you can use to deduct the value of the car from your 2008 Federal income tax.

  5. I did the same thing a few years ago. I donated an old car and when the organization picked it up, I signed the title over and they in return gave me a receipt which is dated and signed by both parties to show that I had relinquished ownership of the car. Be sure any paper work is dated...this proves it is out of your hands.  I removed the plates before they picked it up. I didnt do anything with the DMV, but if you would feel better by doing so, go ahead.

  6. Just sign the title over to whomever you are donating it to. It will no longer be your liability.
