I have an old laptop that was set to boot to a domain.?

the domain is no longer valid since im not connected to the network. how do i get into the computer. i have my passwords but they dont work since the domain it points to isnt valid.

  1. What OS are you dealing with.

    if it's XP you should have an option to boot to "this machine" rather than the network server. From there, if you have the right privileges you can remove yourself from the domain. if none of that works, get a second hard drive for it, install an OS or your choice, and use an IDE to USB adapter to connect the second drive up so you can get at your files.


  2. "old laptop"???? HOW old can a laptop be and be networked?

    Since you say it is old, I will assume it is NT or even Windows 2000.

    Boot into windows using the option Boot to this compute.

    You can also boot into safe mode and disable the network.

  3. Since it is a domain, you will run into a bunch of security restrictions.

    Your best option is to Format C: and install the OS of your choice.

    All other methods run you all around the block and usually result in formatting C: anyway.
