I have an old lister sr3 on my boat and somehow there is air in the system?

i can see air in the fuel feed pipe after the filter , is there a nut or s***w on the filter i can undo to get rid of the air?

  1. There should be a bleed s***w on top of the filter body. You could try slackening the filter 'out' pipe and hand priming.

    if you have a good battery try undoing the furthest injector pipe from the filter and crank the engine over until it starts then do it back up while the engine is still running


  2. Check the spill (return)line from the injectors. Where does it go to -back to the tank or to the fuel filter? The copper washers either side of the banjo connectors work harden with age and can allow air into the system-only costs pennies to fix.

  3. Yes as answer one and two,start with pipes loose and tighten as fires.The only other thing is if it persists,remember after the pump is a leak,before the pump is pulling air,so check tightness of unions prior fuel pump including possable fuel line chaffed and tank connections

  4. Open up the fuel lines at the injectors,turn over the engine until it is just fuel coming out .Tighten them up again and try to start up again.Yes there is a bleed s***w on the filter housing.
