the lower unit says 65 hp. the front of cover says merc900 and the serial # is 1809282 (on the stearing arm) i think i need to change the impeller for water pump. could someone tell me the correct information about the motor based on the serial#. and if so is it a big job to change the impeller. and also the mix ratio for fuel

  1. Go here to I.D. your motor; http://www.marineengine.com/mfr/mercury_... Also check the parts listings. They have a repair kit with impeller, wear plate and other items needed for about $15.00. Manuals are available there also.

  2. Yeah I would agree with the other responders, they have given you good info, a reasonable set of hand-tools with the repair manual from Merc will get you through it, no sweat-by the way, I rec these be changed EVERY year if you store the motor out of the water, every other year if you store it IN the water.

  3. That sounds like 1965 Model. The Impellar would probably be, # 47-89984T4.  It will cost you about 30 bucks.  You can order it here.  http://www.eastcoastmarineservice.com/lo...  While your at it. you should spend a bit more and get the dealers service manual.  It will be around $70.00

    Good Luck
