  1. Find a digital camcorder and play the vhs tape from the player into the camcorder using a patch cable.  From the camcorder, following the directions on the software that came with it to capture it into the computer.  Then you'll be able to burn the dvd.

  2. THE SIMPLEST WAY TO DO IT YOURSELF

This assumes you do not want to edit anything on the original VHS tape.

Connect your VCR to a DVD recorder. Use an RCA audio/video  cable set between units (Yellow = video, White = left audio channel, Red = right audio channel) .

Amazon has a "Toshiba DR410 1080p Up converting Tunerless DVD Recorder" for $118.24. If you do not want to keep the DVD Recorder just resale it. However it  will also be useful as a DVD player if you get a HDTV  set in the future and want to watch current, standard definition (SD) DVDs at thier highest quality. There are several recorders available from many electronics dealers, the Toshiba is just an example.

Once this is done you should be able to enjoy your family video on most DVD players.

    I hope this helps.

  3. I don't know if you have one in your area or not, but where I live theres a Video Production that you can pay to get your video tapes made into a DVD. My best advice to you would be to call around at your local video stores and see if any of them would make the movie into a DVD for you.

  4. you can buy a dvd recorder so you can copy your video tape . you can buy them fairly cheap either on ebay or amazon
