I have an older VCR that plays well thru the TV. Using Pinnacle dvd maker thru the computer the VCR doesn't work well.

The picture jumps all around and the colors are all distorted. Unwatchable!

Is there some setting on the computer I

can change?

  1. Hi Richard,

Your VHS tapes have copy guard.

In order to copy them you have to bypass the copy protection. A good device that will work is the Digital Video Stabilizer. It works like a charm and is only $25. Go here to read about and see an example - http://www.qualitekindustries.com/vidsta...

  2. Okay, they quit making VCR tapes late last year, and DVD's are to be discontinued being made this year in favor of Blue Ray.

Personally, enjoy what you can play now, but be ready to convert over to Blue Ray.  I do not like it, I think DVD is better, just like Beta was better than VCR, but good sense never wins, and we are stuck with the newer technology taking over just like digital television and radio are taking over late next year.  Except I really like digital television and radio!!!  I just hate the way something like Blue Ray can take over and destroy what we have.
