I have water damage in my home. I called and reported the claim, my insurance company is out of town so they have to have an adjuster call me monday. Im not sure what will happen. Im worried that they will write a check for under the amount because it is a mobile home. The thing about it is everything in a mobile home is different from a regular (well at least in the older ones). We just replaced our floor and now it is ruined. My small bathroom is completly damaged, but it wasnt in great condition to start with. How does this work? Im about to just give up on this place. We bought it in 99 and it cost more to repair it than its worth. Any advice on what to do?

  1. The adjuster will come out and inspect the damage. They may write the estimate there or they may take notes and write the estimate back at the office.

What you are paid will depend on your policy.

In my company - mobile home policies are actual cash value polices. That means that the adjuster writes the estimate for the damage and subtracts for deprecation. So you, as the homeowner, pay your deductible and the deprecation.

If you have the paperwork for when you replaced your floor -it's ok to show that to the adjuster.

What ever happens -the adjuster should explain the process to you. They will write an estimate that is broken down room by room and item by item. It will show the replacement cost and any deprecation taken.

If you have questions when you get the estimate - call the adjuster - he/she will be able to explain it to you.
