I have an open wireless router at home to which I'm connected for long hours a day, can someone use it to access MY computer? If yes, how?

  1. easier still put a user name and password on router . all routers come with this option and it's easy to hack because noone changes it . EG: admin user name and admin password is factory setting . find out your ip address for your router most of the time it's found in your network settings or you could go to command prompt (you will find this in accessories) and type in ipconfig then enter . it will give you your ip . then enter this into your address bar and it will take you to your router settings . Good luck


  2. i think others can not access your computer . others can share your internet . but there is a chance to alter your router settings and internet access settings if your router does not have password or it has default password.

  3. Yes. If it is open access anyone can connect to it.Have a look at this site to find info to add some security to you set up. Google this 'Linksys easylink advisor.'
