I have an orchid and one of the stems has gone brown at the top what can i do?

  1. its called heading cut about 4 inch's from the top. it will come back in a few weeks, you have a systemic disease in the plant,


  2. If you mean a flower spike, just cut it down to the next node (small leaf-like projection). If you mean an orchid with an extended psuedobulb or cane, such as a Dendrobium or Epidendrum, then you've got possible crown rot or some other systemic disease. If the terminal growth has died, then there is a good chance a new growth will sprout out of it's base. The damaged growth will no longer grow. It may stay green indefinitely but it will now go dormant. You don't need to do anything.
