I have an outdated tax return check from india which is just past 2 days over the validity date.Please help.?

I stay in the US. My last years returns have come home and as my family didnt know that its a tax return check they informed me very late. They had to send it here so that i sign on the revenue stamp behind it. But the time i had sent it back, its validity date had crossed by 2 days. Can any one suggest if the IT department would send me another check if i request them? what is the procedure for this. I have applied the tax return in a rural place in INDIA/ANDHRAPRADESH/WGDT/NARSAPUR. Please kindly suggest.

contact the officer who issued the cheque and apply for a re validation.

the cheque has to be returned to the office/officer where the cheque was issued and u have to apply for a fresh check. there is no other way out.
