  1. Ovarian cysts affect women of all ages.  It can grow five or six centimetres wide and usually last

four to six weeks.  The cysts are fluid-filled, sac-like structures within an ovary.  It is common

among women during their reproductive years and are growths that form on the two almond sized organs

on each side of the uterus. It can cause discomfort during intercourse.

Surgery may be required to remove cysts larger than 5 centimeters in diameter (about the size of a

tennis ball). It may be considered necessary if a cyst appears suspicious for cancer on the sonogram,

if it causes severe pain, if it continues to grow, or if it does not go away in 8 weeks.Surgery may be

indicated in cases when bleeding continues or is excessive.

  2. Who told you it was 5 inches? That's large! I'd go to the emergency room! The risks: the cyst could burst, or it could cut off the blood supply to your ovary, which is enormously painful and could kill your ovary.

  3. You should contact your doctor and let them know what is going on. Please do not take medical advice from people that have no medical training and do not know your background. Call you doc, let them know what is going on and they will work you in...probably today.

  4. a few days or even a few weeks wont make much difference medically speaking  you will have to go through a barrage of tests before a final discussion has been made for removal of cyst

best thing can do is get protein drinks and yoghurt's /mousses/ice cream any thing soft but nourishing, ask doctors for supplemental drinks

they may decide to use chemotherapy drugs to shrink cyst before operating if that is needed keep in constant touch with your key worker  they are there to help in everyway they can

i wish you all the best in the world for a speedy recovery
