I have an unused credit card, that I'm planning on keeping open just in case (it has a high credit limit). Is it better for my credit score to not use it at all, or put a tiny amount on each month (like $10). Thanks!

  1. With a high credit limit your should keep the card if you control your spending & are not tempted to use it. Put a reminder on your calender & use the card once every 3 or 4 months to keep it active, paying it off as soon as you get the bill.

  2. to build a good credit score you should put a small amount on then pay it off. but dont get in over your head. credit cards are the worst things to have.

  3. It is better for you to put ten dollars on then pay it off at end of month.  I have already been down this road.  If you don't use the card you will still be charged a fee annually and it still shows up on your credit report.

  4. Use it.

I have used two cards with cash back rewards for the last two years for almost everything I buy every month and pay them off in full before the due date.

I have not only raised my credit score almost 150-points but have made almost $1,000.00 in cash back rewards this last two years.

Not bad for using someone else's money for free.

  5. Yes - you're on the right track...Charge little amounts..no more than 10% and pay the balance in FULL and on TIME.

This will be great for your credit payment history which really helps your score.
