Question:

I have anxiety. A little help here?

The doc gave me some medicine to help with it but its expensive and I have severe IBS and im not a fan of prescription drugs. Are there any herbs that would help or should I just suck it up and take the meds?

  1. I also have anxiety/panic attacks & our local pharmacy participates in the $4 prescription program, where most prescriptions or generics have only a $4 fee (Florida).

    I've also been told that when panics start to come on, do deep breathing techniques, go to a quiet/dark place & try to relax (yeah right...this one is almost impossible!) and the last thing is to 'break' the attack - splash very cold water on your face, it shocks your body & therefore takes your mind off the attack.

    Your doc should be able to prescribe something that will work for you & your IBS.

  2. I have anxiety too-it sucks! I get xanax prescribed to me and it works a little but it doesn't prevent my attacks from happening, it just helps afterwards. There is a great rare blended juice drink from the Tunguska region in Siberia which is produced from rare plants and soils vitamin rich, which helps with all sorts of things. Its awesome! It got rid of my depression! It tastes good and is natural and is great for the body!     Otherwise, just try taking deep breaths and controlling your thoughts to fight the attacks-your mind is very powerful and you control it completely, so you have the power to get rid of it! Hope that helps! :)


  3. When you start feeling panic, try deep breathing, in through your nose and out through your mouth.  It might not sound like much, but the extra oxygen should help relax you.

You probably have anxiety because of your irritable bowel.  An irritable bowel can be the cause of much anxiety!  Try not to worry about it, watch what foods you eat and eat a balanced diet.  Avoid foods that have a lot of acidity, grease, coffee, pop, spicy foods, and avoid zesty foods (like spaghetti and zesty sauces).  If you watch your diet and get your irritable bowel under control, your anxiety will go away too.  A messed up bowel is no fun!

  5. Anxiety. I sometimes get that too. It usually comes when I get nervous. What I do is remember a couple of quotes my dad said, drink some water, and take a couple of deep breaths.

  6. You might be able to ask your doctor for a less expensive medication if you have to pay cash for it.  There are medications that help.  I had IBS, but it resolved.  The medication did help while I needed it.

    do not take the drugs it makes you worse in the long run

    there are many things you can do and there are herbs that help

    I suggest getting a herb bible/dictionary

    I have one called "earl mindell's herb bible"

    herbs that help:

    Chamomile

    evening primrose

    lavender

    st. john's wort

    exercise helps a lot
