I have apples, apples, apples, what to do?

I just washed, peeled, and sliced about 7 gallons of apples. What do I do now?

a. freeze and worry about it later

b. make apple butter

c. make apple pickles

d. make a pie as large as my house and call the local news

e. other

Seriously what do I do with all these apples?

  4. You can make an 2-3 big apple pies, in order to have to eat for many days, you can also make a waldorf salad. You can have a gathering or a party and make a waldorf salad and an apple pie along with other food. You can also make apple marmelade!

  6. Well you can pawn them off on some relatives or friends.

    Freeze them  , make apple pie , apple crisp , apple juice.

  7. This is a quick, little cake that my grandmother would make, to use up extra apples or pears

    GRAM'S APPLE CAKE

    1/2 c. sugar

    1 egg, slightly beaten

    1 TB. baking powder

    1 TB. butter, softened

    1/2 c. sour cream

    1 c. flour

    4-5 apples (peeled & sliced)

    cinnamon, sugar& butter

    Beat first 6 ingredients well.  Pour into greased square pan.  Top with sliced apples.  Dot with more butter.  Sprinkle with more cinnamon & sugar.  Bake at 350 for 30-50 min

  8. Keep out enough for a pie or some apple turnovers.   You need some reward for all your hard work.  

    Freeze the rest.  Just put in some resealable bags and put in the freezer.   Take out a bag when you want to make a pie.  

    For me, if you are going to be making some apple butter or apple sauce, you really haven't peeled enough to make it worth your while.

    "This is the ultimate apple butter recipe given to me by a former English teacher who loves to cook. It reminds me of fall and tastes heavenly. It's sweet, but not too sweet. It is just perfect. It tastes great on muffins, pancakes and vanilla ice cream."



    INGREDIENTS

    1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed

    1/2 cup apple cider

    4 pounds Macintosh apples - peeled, cored and chopped

    3/4 cup dark brown sugar

    1 cup apple brandy

    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    1 teaspoon ground ginger

    1/4 teaspoon ground cloves



    DIRECTIONS

    In a large saucepan, bring apple juice concentrate, apple cider, and Macintosh apples to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Stirring occasionally, simmer uncovered about 1 hour, until apples are easily mashed.

    Mix dark brown sugar, apple brandy, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves into the apple mixture. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer uncovered 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Transfer to sealed sterile containers, and cool at least 1 hour before serving.

    Apple Pound Cake --



    INGREDIENTS

    2 cups sugar

    1 1/2 cups vegetable oil

    3 eggs

    2 teaspoons vanilla extract

    3 cups all-purpose flour

    1 teaspoon baking soda

    1 teaspoon salt

    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

    2 cups chopped, peeled tart apples

    1 cup chopped almonds

    1/2 cup raisins

    APPLE CIDER GLAZE:

    1/2 cup apple cider or apple juice

    1/2 cup packed brown sugar

    2 tablespoons butter or margarine

    DIRECTIONS

    In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla; mix well. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg; add to egg mixture and mix well. Stir in apples, almonds and raisins. Pour into a greased and floured 10-in. fluted tube pan.

    Bake at 350 degrees F for 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 hours or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 15 minutes before removing from pan to a wire tack to cool completely.

    In a saucepan, combine glaze ingredients; cook over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Prick top of cake with a fork; drizzle with glaze.

    Apple Maple Crumble Pie --



    INGREDIENTS

    5 apples - peeled, cored and sliced

    2/3 cup maple syrup

    1/2 cup butter

    1/2 cup brown sugar

    3/4 cup all-purpose flour

    1 pinch salt

    3/4 cup rolled oats

    DIRECTIONS

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

    Place the apples in an 8x8 inch baking dish. Pour the maple syrup over the apples. In a bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar. Stir in the flour, salt and oats. Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples.

    Bake in preheated oven 35 minutes, until golden and bubbly and apples are tender.

    Aunt Hazel's Apple Oatmeal Cookies --



    INGREDIENTS

    3/4 cup packed brown sugar

    1/2 cup butter, softened

    2 cups rolled oats

    2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/2 cup chopped walnuts

    2 eggs

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1 cup all-purpose flour

    1/2 teaspoon baking soda

    1 apple - peeled, cored and shredded

    1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

    1 tablespoon milk

    DIRECTIONS

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

    Mix together brown sugar and margarine until light and fluffy.

    Beat in eggs and vanilla.

    Mix in the rest of the ingredients, except for powdered sugar and milk. Stir until well blended.

    Drop on cookie sheet and bake 9 to 12 minutes.

    Mix powdered sugar and milk in small bowl and drizzle over cooled cookies
