I have astigmatism in my left eye and i'm nearsighted in my left eye?

Is it better for me to get glasses or contacts? If my astigmatism gets worse and I get it in my right eye, should I get contacts?

Contacts are more a cosmetic decision, not a vision decision.

If you don't like how you look wearing glasses, get contacts.  If you don't think you would like the hassles of cleaning contacts, stick with glasses.

It is not like pink eye...it can't spread.

I where both, switch between glasses and contacts.  It is a personal choice.

Regular astigmatism will not transfer to your other eye or get worse, unless you have keratoconus, which is pretty rare. Glasses are fine. You can go for contacts, but if the astigmatism is severe, you'll have to get either RGPs or hybrids, not just regular softs. Upside for contacts - you can wear sunglasses, and you won't be wearing glasses on your nose all the time, if that bothers you. Downside - contacts are generally  more expensive, plus the solutions, cases, maybe drops... glasses are easier to care for, just wipe 'em clean and go! I've done it all, glasses are probably the more practical choice

My husband has astigmatism and he has tried contact lenses in the past. None of them were ever successful. I understand it's because it's more difficult to make contact lenses for people with astigmatism because their problem tends to be more specific to a particular person. I noticed that the lenses he had were a lot thicker than mine and he just couldn't adjust to them.

Glasses are always safer and they give your eyes some protection. Many people who wear contacts also wear plano glasses for the protection.
