  1. Well tell her all of the healthly aspects of becoming a vegan. Show her that you can keep up with your protein and iron levels and show her that you can look up some simple meals to prepare yourself so it doesn't interfere with a meal she may be making. I'm sure that if you feel strongly about it and show her you can be responsible for the decision then she will come around to the idea.

  2. Until your body stops growing, you need quality protein. A vegan diet for young people is not impossible but is very risky, especially in the situation you are in.

Eat what you mother feeds you until you are old enough to have your own home and buy and prepare your own food.

  3. I've very recently made the decision to become a vegan myself, and I think it's a good decision to make. The animals are often kept in awful conditions-even Free Range is not necessarily to be trusted as all it means is that the animals have access to the outside for a short period of the day-and closely linked in with meat industry. If your mum is very against you, try to talk to her-no screaming or shouting, just have a calm adult discussion. Explain it's your choice and your reasons for wanting to become a vegan. If she won't listen then she is being unreasonable-it's your decision to make.

  4. Being vegetarian and vegan in a non veg family is rough, especially when you are young and still living at home.  I became a vegetarian young, and my parents grounded me at first!  Until we went out to eat, and they tried to make me order meat, and they yelled at me in the restaurant, and I cried and said You can't make me eat meat!  From then on they respected it, and my mom tried to cook veg stuff or I would just eat the carb and vegetable part of the meal she made.  When I became vegan, my mom said, "Now you can eat nothing."  Fast forward 16 years, my mother became a vegetarian herself, and my dad even eats vegetarian half the time.

My points to you are: Stand up for yourself, they can't force food down your throat.  And, you never know what the future may bring.  My parents were hard core meat eaters, and I never expected my mom to be the dedicated vegetarian she is today.  I know it's hard to imagine what may come in the future, but they will let up on you in time, and you will influence them.

Get as much support as you can from other vegans, online and in your community.

Good luck to you and hugs - I know what you are going through!!

  6. eat veggie burgers and other foods they taste just the same and should help with your problems.Keep going for what you believe in.No one can tell you how to live.

  7. you're choice not you're parents

since becoming vegan, i've been a lot more energeic and ppl have told me i'm losing weight. like a lot of people.

offer to go with her to the supermarket

  8. Just become one when your old enough to pay for it yourself.

  9. Parents shouldn't be expected to purchase vegetarian/vegan foods.  If you are serious on this lifestyle, you should expect to have to pay for it yourself.  This might not be easy, but it also shows your effort, and your family should respect it.

  10. i became a vegetarian at that age, and my parents were constantly nagging that i don't get enough protein because i was an athlete and they were afraid of me becoming anemic. educate yourself on how much protein and other nutrients you need per day and how much is in vegan foods. when they see that you want to do it in a healthy way that will only better your body, they will probably support you more. good luck

  11. You have to let your mom know that your serious about this and the only way your going to do this, is to stick to it.

If she see you eating any thing that isn't related to this lifestyle, she is not going to support it.

Just becareful she may unconsciously sabatage your diet by offering you things not on your food plan.

So stick with it whether it's vegetarian or vegan, when she see the benefits of it, she may want to do it too.

    Goodluck!
